Cyber resilience is becoming a question of survival
The digital threat situation for companies intensified further in the first half of 2025. Cyber criminals are increasingly acting strategically, exploiting targeted vulnerabilities in IT infrastructures and relying on double extortion: data is not only encrypted but also published. Companies with complex networks, outdated systems or unclear responsibilities are particularly affected. The result: business interruptions, data loss, reputational damage - and in some cases even insolvency. The OOPS report shows that many organizations are still not pursuing a holistic security strategy and are therefore exposing themselves to unnecessary risks.
Learning from real incidents - instead of textbooks
The OOPS H1-2025 report documents over 150 real security incidents from Germany, across all industries. From an attack on a city administration to data theft at a sporting goods manufacturer to blackmail at a hospital group: the cases show how different the attack vectors and effects can be. In order to focus on prevention and strategic learning, we deliberately refrain from naming affected companies. Instead, we analyze typical areas of damage, attacker groups and attack patterns and provide concrete impulses for IT security managers to strengthen their own resilience.
